The AutoCAD Blog Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 We are excited to share another article in the relatively new series Try What’s New! But instead of AutoCAD, this article is for those using AutoCAD LT. We’ll look at using AutoLISP, which has been available for many decades in AutoCAD. But it’s now available for the first time to AutoCAD LT users with the 2024 release. (You can check out the difference between AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT here.) AutoLISP is a powerful productivity tool that allows you to automate workflows and extend the functionality of AutoCAD LT. You don’t need to be a programmer to take advantage of AutoLISP programs that were previously written by others. This article starts off by first loading and using AutoLISP programs, and then easing into the basics of writing your own simple AutoLISP programs. In this new Try AutoLISP article, we’ll cover: Loading an AutoLISP file Managing and securing AutoLISP files Entering AutoLISP statements at the Command prompt Storing AutoLISP statements in AutoLISP (LSP) files Loading AutoLISP files with the Startup Suite Learning about specialized startup AutoLISP files Learn how AutoLISP in AutoCAD LT can be used to automate workflows and improve your productivity with the step-by-step examples in Try AutoLISP. Along with the Try AutoLISP article, check out these Have You Tried articles to improve your productivity through other automation and customization features of AutoCAD LT: Design Your Own Ribbon Manage and Customize Your Workspace Create Tools on Tool Palettes Streamline Tasks with Scripts Keep the Feedback Coming Thanks for all the great feedback submitted so far. Because of the great feedback, we have been able to improve the topics in the AutoCAD Online Help system. The best way to submit feedback is by using the “Was this helpful?” section located at the bottom of every Help topic. Let us know what you like or don’t like about a topic or provide suggestions for other subjects that you’d like to see covered in greater detail. The more specific your comments, the better.
