Kaner65 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I heard that it was possible to generate a roof plan with just a plan outline assuming the same eave heights all the way around the perimeter. I had never heard of that before, but I dont utilize half of the programs possiblities. So, I thought I would ask. thanks Quote
uddfl Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 In 2d? No. It's not possible by means of standard AutoCAD commands, but wouldn't it be nice to have a program to do it for you. I wonder if someone has done it... Edit: One 'cheat' could be to use the EXTRUDE command, then explode and flatten the 3dsolid. Quote
Noahma Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Autocad architecture can do this, but it is not native for Autocad plain. It creates your roof in 3d using two tools, roof and roof slabs. Quote
BIGAL Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 You can do it using "3dface" by joining 3d points together they must be a plane answer, say end would be 3 points 2 eave then ridge, side eave eave ridge ridge. Using "hide" your roof will appear solid. Way simpler than using 3d solids. You can certainly draw a house in full 3d without using solids check out the elevation & thickness commands draw 4 lines = wall with thicknes set to height of wall. Quote
