The main objective is to paste selected objects into Excel.

Normally in 2D, select Copy in AutoCAD and then Paste Special/Picture (Enhanced Metafile) in Excel. But this doesn't work if I try and paste objects from 3D drawing.

The only thing that seems to work is to FLATTEN and then paste into new AutoCAD drawing, then copy from new drawing and Paste Special into Excel. Issue is that flattened objects do not appear as per screen view, they are rotated.

Is it possible to flatten to XY plane?

Also tried FLATSHOT, but get message "There are no solids or surfaces that can be projected.".

have you thought about making an image then pasting that into excel. Shift+Windowbutton+s will let you do a screen grab.

It needs to be a vector image such as emf (enhanced metafile).
