Bane Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 With a very big help of my friends here I've created some complex linetypes. But when send my drawing to somebody, they can't see that linetypes, and it's not very good idea to send linetypes shape files to every customer. Is there any way to "explode" created complex linetypes? WMFOUT / WMFIN solution is not very good since I have thousands of different linetypes and shapes in different layers in drawing. Thanks Quote
Tiger Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 The only way I know of is to send you're linetype along with your drawing. When you use E-transmit all stuff like that gets sent along with it. An alternative I guess would be to exchange all your linetypes for an ordinary one when you send it away - probably could be done via a lisp or something. Quote

Thanks You do well to be doubtful of this technique. The scale of the resultant line is slightly different in the x and y axes Quote
A1DWG Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Out of curiosity, how did you create your linetypes? shx files or additions to the linetype *.lin file or custom .lin files. I've created linetypes and added them to the Acad.lin file (after taking a backup) other pcs can see the linetypes, but they are not added to their support files. Quote

I've created linetypes and added them to the Acad.lin file (after taking a backup) other pcs can see the linetypes, but they are not added to their support files. I have created linetypes using Express Tools commands mkshape and mkltype. I saved Linetype definitions to mylines.lin file. There I change some values in lin file just to have shapes centered on the line. Then I adjusted the path to reference directory (in this directory are all shx and shp files and one .lin file). It works just fine on my PC. Those linetypes are very complex and can't be made without shapes. It's not possible to send linetypes to customers because many of them don't know anything more to do with computers except to open and plot. There must be a solution... maybe some lisp or something... Thanks Quote
eldon Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Is it possible to post a screen shot of one of the linetypes? Someone may have different ideas on how to create the effect you desire. Quote
Bane Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 Is it possible to post a screen shot of one of the linetypes? Someone may have different ideas on how to create the effect you desire. Of course. Here are just 9 of over hundred linetypes... Quote
A1DWG Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 As they are quite complex linetypes I will agree with Tiger and suggest e-transmit as the best option. Quote
eldon Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I would have probably done those linetypes with a block and Measure. Whilst I have had to be concerned about portability of data, I have abided by the KISS data format. Quote
