Hi,

I’m having a problem with the AutoCAD LT 2009 text style editor.

We have a number of drawings which use the font of our old company branding. Each drawing has a number of different text styles. I have opened the drawing, selected the text style editor, & altered all of the styles to the new font hoping to see all of the text with the old font change to the new font. However nothing changes.

The only way of resolving the issue that I have found (be it text or mtext) is to firstly alter the font in the text style editor, then open up each bit of text or mtext individually by double clicking it, changing the text style to another style, & then changing it back.

Then if you want to change the font for that text style again, you have to firstly alter in the text style editor, but then select the altered text (as above), enter the drop down annotation menu & then reselect the chosen text style.

This is extremely long winded, especially when there’s 100s of drawings to alter. Another way to update the fonts is to select all text & mtext & explode them once alterations have been made in the text style editor. This certainly isn’t good practice however, as all mtext is converted to text. The text doesn’t appear to be grouped or in a block either.

Oddly, having tried to do the same on a consultants drawing, the font on the drawing automatically alters when it is altered in the text style editor.

Any thoughts?

I'm taking a guess here, but it sounds like the font is changed manually in the first place so when you do changes to the Text Style it won't go through...

I have no solution though... can you use QSelect and change all the texts that are the same text style at once at least?

Yeah, I can quick select most of the text, but some of it seems to be ommited. I think this is because of bad drawing though, rather than any technical problem.

Is there any way to reset the fonts on all text & mtext to comply with their individual text styles similar to "by layer" for layer properties?

Thanks

Tom
