Hi

Has anyone tried to customize a Data Base such as MS Access to manage their drawings?

I'm just planning the design of one to replace our existing BS hard copy system.

Does anyone have an existing Data Base design for drawing management I can use as a basis? I would be happy to share any development.

Yours gratefully......

I haven't, although it should't be too hard. Do a few of the Microsoft training tutorials and guides (available online) and you'll be quickly up and running.

We have a commercial product based around Access it records job details as well as time sheets produces reports etc very detailed. (Latitude)

If you want something basic then just create an access database with simple details jobno jobdetail client address date etc I would include a comments box.

You can have multiple databases linked this makes it simpler to say keep time sheets v's job details. Each database is created seperately but has a unique matchting id. Always add a new entry to time sheet.

Really there is no limit, add transmittal database. If you know how to program Access then you can have your front end opening up the correct database depending on user choice.

Hi Bigal,

The only commercial options I have seen so far for Drawing Management have been in the thousands of pounds (UK Sterling)

If you're using access then Make Sure u keep the "Primary Key" unique to each record.

I'll have a play around l8r and let you know if i get anywhere (am a bit rusty, havent touched access for abt 3 yrs)
