KevinJD Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Am I doing this right? I need to create a drawing so it would fit on a 24"x36" sheet. So I executed: LIMITS 0,0 24,36 Am I right? I just finished reading harnessing AutoCAD and now I am forgetting all the stuff I learned at the beginning of my course. Quote
EMS_0525 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 typically model space is for "models" drawn at full scale, and you use paper space to create a viewport at what ever scale needs to fit it on what ever size sheet you want. the drawing limits have nothing to do with printable area. Quote
DECHAL Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 you don't need limits. I've been drawing for 15 years and never once used limits!!! Just pick a point and start drawing Regards, DECHAL Quote
Tiger Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 If you have set your Limits and want out of it - there's an OFF option when you start the Limits command. If you do want to use Limits, then no, not quite. What you need to do then is to figure out what Scale you want your drawing to be plotted at, and multiply your limits with that. I agree though that there is generally no need to use LImits though, the AutoCAD world is endless, just start drawing. Quote
EMS_0525 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Type in UNITS, go to the insertion scale drop down list... notice there is LIGHT YEARS and PARSECS.... i just find that funny.... you could draw the universe at FULL SCALE. Quote
Tiger Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 ..... you could draw the universe at FULL SCALE. Take a look at this model  Quote

Lithium Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Am I doing this right? I need to create a drawing so it would fit on a 24"x36" sheet. So I executed: LIMITS 0,0 24,36 If using Limits shouldn't it be: 0,0 36,24 (At least for the way I'm set up) Quote

Why restrict yourself to a certain size when you can have limitless. D Quote
