maxwku Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I’m having a difficult time with my ucs and viewport. I have a drawing which I received and the ucs is slanted. I like for my ucs to be at 90, makes it easier to draw when ortho is on. So I changed the ucs the following way: Ucs – object Plan- current or world (I tried both). So now I have my cursor and my ucs set the way I want. But when I go into a layout, draw an mview window, and activate the viewport, the ucs automatically resets itself, both in paper and in model, to the angel it used to be. And when I set it back, as soon as I leave viewport and the go back in, it does it again. Does any one know what is going on? Oh and I'm using AutoCAD LT 2009 so I don't have the twist 2 command:( (I miss it a lot) . Max Quote
Cad64 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 While the viewport is active, type UCSFOLLOW at the command line and change the setting to 0. Quote
NBC Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 What value is UCSFOLLOW set to ? Darn, beaten again ! Quote
maxwku Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 UCSFOLLOW is set at 0. Everything is just right, it's as soon as I hit the paper tab, in my template the ucs jumps back to the angle it used to be at. Any other ideas? Quote
maxwku Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 I’m starting to think that the problem is not with my ucs, but with my mview options. It seems that every time I draw a new mview window, and then activate it, the ucs jumps back to the original ucs angle. I think if there was a way I could get the mvew window to default to current ucs and not world, or change the world ucs that would work. But I can’t seem to do either. What are your all thoughts on this? Am I on the right track or, is there another problem I’m overlooking? Quote
T0lly Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I just went thru a similiar issue, ended up being the SNAPANG setting was off. Quote
maxwku Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 What was it set to, and what did you change it to? Quote
T0lly Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 What was it set to, and what did you change it to? Oh sorry. It was set to 33 degrees. I set it to 0 (North) to match my world UCS setting. The user has no idea how it got changed, just one of those happened out to blue things. Quote

Max I think your problem is setting the UCS to object. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about liking the UCS at 90, my thoughts are that for the majority of your work you should be in WCS (world) and only modify your current ucs when you need to construct something at an other angle or relative coordinate, but then always switch back to world. Do you sometimes have problems with orientation when inserting drawings that had been wblocked? Quote
