Lisa09 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Hello, I am having trouble stretching a plant. I do not want to stretch it proportionately. I have used the STRETCH command and chose certain points but it becomes distorted (some lines are being overstretched). I am also having trouble shrinking a hedge. I want to shrink the length of the hedge but not the width. Please help me! Quote

At some point early on the distortion will come into play. Dynamic blocks would help, I forgot to see what version you are on before starting my reply. Quote
GCarr78 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 What type of plant are you stretching? Tree? Shrub? Shrub bed outline? Blocks are always the best way to go if you can, there are exceptions I find however rkent does have a point though, Dynamic blocks could be your solution, however I have not explored them enough to say that is the definate answer. Lisa09 When you insert the particular block, open up the Properties flyout, highlight the particular block (or blocks) you wish to stretch and just change the scale factor in either the "X" or "Y" axis to something greater or less thatn "1". AutoCAD would then do the stretching for you. You might have to play with the new value of "X" or "Y" until you get the distance or proportions you want, but that might be easier than using stretch or sliding grip points all over. I'm still confused as to why you would stretch a standard plant block though? Quote

Please note though, that when you revise the "X" or "Y" value in this mannor AutoCAD will use your Block Insertion Point as the reference for the adjustment, be mindful of where this is in relation to your block symbol.
