SammiAdby Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Hey, I've downloaded a 'cad block' from the archibaseplanet website, but it won't insert to my cad drawing. Its a 3DS file, so I am inserting using the 3DSIN command but it gives me this message 'internal error number 8 - 3d studio file import terminated'. I don't know what I can do and I really need this for a project that's due in soon. Please Help! Thanks Sammi Quote
papagyi Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Pls import to 3ds max then export or save as (sorry!i can't well remember) with dwg format! Quote
Lazarus Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 As papagyi suggested, import the file into max and then export it as .DWG I've had the same message when i tried to import a .3DS file of a vehicle and it turned out than the chasis of the vehicle had too many faces for AutoCAD to handle so it was discarded when exporting the file from 3DsMAX....so i'm guessing that was giving the error message in the original import into AutoCAD. Noahma Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 The archives stuff is very high poly stuffs. If one does not import for me, I usually look for another similar piece. They have literally thousands of items to choose from. Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 I haven't got studio max, i've tried to download it but that is working so i can't import the files in to studio max. but i also can't attach the files on here becuase they are too big.what can i do??? Quote
Cad64 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I haven't got studio max, i've tried to download it but that is working I assume you meant "that isn't working"? What isn't working? Is it that you're unable to download the trial version of Max, or did you download it but you can't get it to work, or does it work but you're unable to Import the 3ds file? Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 well i've tried different studio max downloads. One being from the autodesk website and it won't install. Others i have downloaded through bitlord. Nothing seems to be on my side, please help if you can! Quote
Cad64 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Which model did you download? If we know which one it was, we can download the same one and try to figure out what the problem is? Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 I just tried to post the links of the models but this site won't let me. I also just tried downloading studio max trial from the autodesk site and this is the message that came up when i began installation. 'c:\autodesk\autodesk_3dsmax_2010_english_trial' folder is not accessible i'll try posting the links for the models again. Thanks Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 it won't let me post the links untill i've posted 9 messages so i will have to just write some random posts.please ignore. Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 right here are the links for the models.... http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/23315.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/22825.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/21070.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/20373.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/18580.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/17762.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/2473.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/2328.html http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/2302.html sorry there quite a few. You have to register on the site befor eyou can download the models but its free! Quote
Cad64 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 All you had to do was tell us the names of the files you downloaded. You didn't have to link to them. I have deleted the other posts you used to circumvent the 10 post restriction. Quote
Cad64 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I just downloaded the armchair model and it imports into Autocad 2008 and 2009 using 3DSIN. The only errors I get are regarding missing materials. The model does have problems though. Some of the components are rotated 180 degrees and others pieces are offset, but they can be put back in place easily enough. So I'm not sure why it's not working for you? I will try some of the other models and see what happens. Quote
Cad64 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Same issue with the sofa. It Imports ok, but some of the components are skewed. Just needs a little manipulation to put it back together. So again, I don't know why you are having problems? What are the specs on your computer? Does it meet the minimum system requirements for 3D work? Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 i don't have a clue about anything like that.i've only been using cad for a few months, i didn't know there were system requirements for 3d work.i have a student version of autocad 9, will this support 3d work like i'm trying to do.maybe thats why none of the models would import?sorry i'm no use!thanks for all your help. Quote
Cad64 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 The student version can do everything regular Autocad can do, but if your system doesn't meet the minimum requirements, you will experience problems. Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 so what should the system requirements be and ho would i go about changing these so i can do 3d work? thanks!!! Quote
Cad64 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I posted a link to a site that lists the minimum system requirements for 2009. Click on the link in one of my previous posts. If your system does not meet those requirements you need to upgrade your computer or buy a new one. Quote
SammiAdby Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 my system does meet these requirements.so is there nothing else i can now do to get these models to open in cad? Quote
