Nouman hussain shaikh Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I have a 2d plan dwg with a lot of piping. I'm need to create an isometric 2d dwg with the least amount of time. I can turn off the unnecessary layers and rotate my view to show the the isometric view I want. However, I cannot show my risers without changing my coordinate system. Is there a way (within r14) to create a 2d drawing of the rotated view? Quote

However, I cannot show my risers without changing my coordinate system. Is there a way (within r14) to create a 2d drawing of the rotated view? Well, I've only attempted this a couple of times and started an article. Never got it finished though. Here you go: To create a 2D isometric drawing from your 2D piping plan while keeping risers visible in AutoCAD R14, follow these steps: Option 1: Use Isometric Snap/Grid Type SNAP in the command line and press Enter. Type STYLE and choose Isometric mode. Use F5 (or CTRL+E) to cycle through isometric planes for proper alignment. Manually draw risers using isometric angles. Option 2: Use UCS for Better Alignment Type UCS and set a custom coordinate system to align with your desired isometric view. Use PLAN to align the view with the new UCS. Draw risers using appropriate isometric angles (typically 30° or 150°). Option 3: Use Oblique Text & Linetypes for Riser Representation If risers appear flat, use the OBLIQUE command to tilt text and dimensions. Apply isometric linetypes (ISO DASH, ISO DOT) to improve appearance. Tip: Since AutoCAD R14 lacks automated isometric tools, manual adjustments are required. If available, newer AutoCAD LT versions have ISODRAFT mode, which simplifies isometric drawing. Let me know if you need further clarification! Edited February 6 by Drafting Teacher Quote
