How to quickly select outline of this?

Thanks,

It's an image, you'll need something like Illustrator/Inkscape to make an outline.

In AutoCAD you'll need to use Spline and/or Pline and trace around it.

Thanks. This picture is just for reference. The source is a .dwg file, but since it's a single item I think there must be a way to capture the perimeter only- maybe with lisp?

Draw a big rectang around it then use BPOLY pick a point between the rectang and the object. It should create boundary.

That could work depending on what it is, which is unknown at this time.

Somewhere here there is a Superboundary routine by @Debalance IIRC.

This works, the object is too complicated and the program crashes. After flattening (source is a 3d dwg)  the boundary was outlined, but not selectable in autocad 12 (selectable in autocad clone)

.

I expected the boundary to be easily selectable but for some reason it isn't.

Thanks,
