ivank Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hello all. I need to model this piece, and I don't know how to make the serrated face. Is there any way of doing it in an automated way? Or I should draw one tooth and make a circular pattern? (I tried this, but the piece is so small that I cannot measure it properly). Any suggestion? Thanks! Quote
shift1313 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 this may be a silly question, but if you can measure it accurately how do you plan to draw it accurately? Are you just drawing this for fun?(not production). if you look at the part, the outter edge of your ratcheting teeth have a wider peak than the inner edges. I would draw your cylinder, then draw a triangle in the center of your circle, extrude(cut) it out from the center then do a circular pattern. I havent seen anything like that in the content center but then again ive never looked for it Quote
ivank Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 hehe, that's fine. I'm quite newbie in production stuff. I really am an architect, and we're not very used to measure millimiters decimes, so I pretended Inventor do it for me. :-P But I haven't realized that there's a triangular prism cutted from this piece! (how many things I have to learn!?) Thanks a lot! Quote
JD Mather Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Give it a try and then attach what you have so far. Or were you looking for someone to do it for you? Quote
Lazer Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 You don't have to measure all the teeth, just the pitch between 2 will do, then use the array command, that's a very easy model to do, post what you have done so far so we can help:wink: Quote
