ravihotwok Posted Wednesday at 12:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:34 PM Hi everyone im having a small crisis here, i have multiple drawings which have a building GA in model space. The title block in paper space has a polygon viewport which is not to scale but the viewport is shaped around certain parts of the ga. I now need to scale the viewport down so it can fit on a small title block. Is there a way for me to do this but it also scales down the area in which the viewport is viewing? at the moment the scale is just staying the same and I have a fair few drawing to try and complete the same task on. Any help would be most appreciated thanks Raj Quote
Discus84 Posted Wednesday at 12:55 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:55 PM Can you go to model space, 1)copy whatever you need, 2)scale to whatever size, then 3)go to paper space, paste ? Quote
ravihotwok Posted Wednesday at 12:56 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 12:56 PM Hi mate, I dont think so, the model space has the overall floor plan of the building but the viewport is only around a few rooms if that makes sense Quote
Discus84 Posted Wednesday at 01:05 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:05 PM What if you : 1)go into the viewport in paper space(doubleclick inside so you work the interior of vievport, vievport frame turns thick) 2)Scale whatever inside this vievport 3) Still in paperspace, click outside vievport and select just the frame, scale it down Quote
ravihotwok Posted Wednesday at 01:11 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:11 PM yeah i get ya mate, but its a massive faff trying to align it with he view port and notes ect which are in paper space, i was hoping there was a way I could just scale the viewport and notes down and everything would stay the same and the scale would just change to what ever it was that makes the view same as before only in a smaller viewport. Racking my brain this is lol Quote
CyberAngel Posted Wednesday at 01:15 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:15 PM Is it a fixed scale difference, or is it arbitrary to fit on the plan? If it's fixed, you can change the viewport scale property, then scale down the viewport itself. You shouldn't have to change anything else. Quote
ravihotwok Posted Wednesday at 01:18 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:18 PM im getting a bit lost in the terminology there sorry, basically I have a random shaped polygon viewport only showing a few rooms on the floor plan, kind of in the shape of a L. ive tried rescalling once ive shrunk the viewport but its taking a fair bit of time and isnt exactly as it was before i think my only option is now to just use the change space command to put the noted into model space and just scale it by eye, not ideal but ive ran out all the very few ideas i had lol Quote
CyberAngel Posted Wednesday at 01:25 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:25 PM How about this. Draw a polyline around the border of the viewport. Use the CHSPACE command to move it from paper space (the key viewport) to model space. You now have a visual guide for aligning the viewport with the area you want to show. When you're done, erase the guide. Quote
ravihotwok Posted Wednesday at 01:27 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:27 PM thats exactly what i have just done lol not ideal but a lot quicker than messing about by eye. Thank Cyber Quote
BIGAL Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM A viewport has a custom scale you can see it when you click on it and using Property. So rescale the viewport then change the custom scale value to suit. Play with some standard scales and look at what Custom scale value is, metric makes it easy. You may also want to pick a point in model space (setq pt (getpoint "\nPick ")) once you have this you can use Zoom C pt scale, this will re center your view, then set your custom scale. A ps Zoom valueXP eg Zoom 0.25XP, sets the scale also. Lastly it's always a good idea to lock a viewport so you don't accidently zoom inside it. Quote
