Cad64 Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Yes, any file created in an older version of Autocad can be opened in a newer version. Quote
Tankman Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Yes, any file created in an older version of Autocad can be opened in a newer version. Older AutoCAD versions can't open newer AutoCAD versions; i.e.: 2009 doesn't open in 2000, '00 opens in '09. Save drawings in an older version if you don't know what version your recipient has! Holds true posting *.dwg files in the forums, many don't have '08 or '09. I often want to take a peek-a-boo at drawings posted, can't open 'em if created in vs. '08 or vs. '09. I always email *.dwg vs. 2000 although the *.dwg was created in '05 or '07 (we don't have '08 or '09 to date). I save drawings created in '05 or '07 to version 2000. I avoid the call, "Can't open your *.dwg file! Please resend in vs. 2000." Quote
