Line color and printed line thickness

Recommended Posts

I have a little experience using Autocad for one of my former employers. There, we had a set scheme of on-screen line colours which related to the thickness of the lines when printed.

I am now doing some freelance draughting. If I am to create new client drawings, to maintain concistency with their existing drawings, how do I know the details of their scheme of colours and line thicknesses. Is this included in the dwg file ?

Thanks.

No, it's in the .ctb file. Ask the client for their .ctb file.

I have been drawing in AutoCAD for many years and have 20+ clients. I found it best to establish my own setup and not have to worry about 20 different set ups. If your drawings look good 99 % of the time they don’t care. If a client wants me to use their layers dimensions and other items I charge extra for the headache.

Thanks to you both, Ipseifert and JohnM. I'll set up my own .ctb file, and see how we go.:)
