Organic Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Got a small problem. Noticed it on two separate computers this week. Arcs and other curved lines are going to lines (with the lines making up these clearly visible and they are no longer arced/curved etc). PE (and making it a polyline I assume) fixes these and they automatically revert to their arcs as I want then etc. The arcs have not been exploded etc and thsi only occurs after saving generally. Any solution for this? Quote
Tiger Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Are you sure that they are lines? Have you clicked on it and checked with Properties? The reason I ask is that arcs and curves look straight sometimes becuase AutoCAD does not calculate them automatically - you have to use REGEN or REDRAW to get them looking round again. Quote
Organic Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 I am not sure that they are lines. They are still grouped as one (as if they were still the arc/pl). Regen (or regenall) does not fix the problem. Quote
Tiger Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 if you click on it and bring up Properties (PR) what does it say it is? Quote
Organic Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Hmm, just tried it in a new drawing and a regen did fix it. However I defiantly tried that previously, so will post back here if the problem occurs. Thanks. Quote
Organic Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 With viewres, should I turn fast zooms on or off (it is currently on)? Quote
GE13579 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I think NBC's right, have you tried it? It will be a case of REGEN temporarily fixing it as well, if I'm understanding correct? Edit- sorry guys just skimmed over the threads initially... Quote
NBC Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Check the value of VIEWRES in your drawings. It is a variable that is stored within each drawing; and is thus likely to be different in different drawings. Quote

NBC Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 With viewres, should I turn fast zooms on or off (it is currently on)? On, and set the value at least to 2000 Quote
Organic Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 All sorted thanks, I thought this was something simple. Quote
GE13579 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 If you prefer using the dialogue boxes, then go OPTIONS, then; Quote

Organic Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 VIEWRES as NBC mentioned. Thanks for the excellent support guys. Quote
Organic Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Maybe some of you smart guys can help me with http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34993 Quote
Arizona Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Viewres seems to be a leftover function of days gone by. When our computers were less powerfull, the view resolution could be set low for faster regens. Now a days, with our "Gigs" of RAM, I crank my viewres all the way up (20,000) via a startup function in my ACAD.LSP file. Every drawing I open gets its viewres variable set to 20000 automaticly. But - for me a 5 meg file is a really big one. If you are dealing with really large files, say 20 meg, viewres might be your bestest buddy. Quote
GE13579 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 ...I crank my viewres all the way up (20,000) via a startup function in my ACAD.LSP file... This can also be done in OPTIONS as I've shown in the attachment in a previous post. Quote
Arizona Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Does doing it in the OPTIONS box set it for every drawing you open from that point on? Quote
