Just wondering what exactly this does? I haven't been able to find documentation in the Help file about this Elevation tool.... Thanks.

Stores the current elevation of new objects relative to the current UCS.

You mean when I bring in a new object, and this Elevation is preset and the button is turned on, it will place the object at this elevation? Because I tried that and it doesn't work. That's why I'm wondering exactly what this Elevation tool takes over.... :(

Can't figure it out either, but the AecSpecifyOffset should set all your drawing Z values to what ever you've specified in there. Shame i cant make it work, could make setting up strcutural drawings a tad easier :/

I personally have not used it, but it should work in conjunction with the Z lock. I believe if you set your elevation using that, anything you draw will come in at that height.

Do you use Project Navigator? If so, the elevations are set up in the levels of the project.

there are some things that you still have to manually edit when using the project navigator, IE sinks and other counter top items.

(getvar "osnapz")
straight from sysvdlg:

Controls whether object snaps are automatically projected onto a plane parallel to the XY plane of the current UCS at the current elevation.

0 Osnap uses the Z-value of the specified point
1 Osnap substitutes the Z-value of the specified point with the elevation (ELEV) set for the current UCS
