Mtext and Dimension text get reversed

We are using AutoCAD2007 in our office. In some computers we have a strange problem that when we type '15@1200' as dimension text, it displays as '1200@12'. This happens only with numbers. If I type 'a@b' it doesn't change. The same happens with mtext also. It happens also with other special charecters like = , ' ;

Anybody has any idea about this problem?

absolutely no help here other than to say it doesn't happen on my 2008 machines.

how many of your computers are affected and how many are not?

Are you using text override?

Is the measurement actually 1500? i.e. are you writing "15@" or "15@1500"?

Only 2 computers are having this problem while more than 50 are working fine.

This is not because of the text override because the same thing happens in Mtext also. The value was fully typed from keyboard, it is not the actual dimension.

that makes it tricky - probably the best solution is to threaten the 2 misbehaving machines with a screwdriver across their diodes.

are those 2 machaines always playing up, every time you use an @ symbol or only with certain numbers?

The 2 machines are having problem always, and it is OK when I use some true type fonts but not all true type fonts.

In the case of Mtext, if I list the object, it is showing correctly. Only in the display of text it shows wrongly. When I open the same drawing in a different machine it shows properly.

real long shot here..... does it print as it displays or by some miracle does it print correctly?

From that machine it prints the same way it displays the text.

I couldn't replicate the problem with my machine either.

Feels like it's a hardware / driver problem. Are the troubled PCs same spec as the others?

Spec are same, but there might be different drivers because of the automatic updates.

When we faced the same problem in another machine, we tried re-installing AutoCAD and it did not solve the problem.

I'd contact Autodesk. You might try investigating a couple of routes such as Unicode control characters, some of which affect text direction and position etc. You may also want to check the font is definitely the same for the entire text string which it looks like it is.

Also, I assume this happens with every way of entering / editing text? 'text', '-text', 'mtext', 'ddedit' etc etc

If you open the file on another station what happens? What happens if you export drawing to 2004 format?

Could you upload a sample dwg?

Thank you very much for the reply. It was weekend for us and I was not able to reply immediately. Sorry for the delay.

In the 'Advanced' tab of 'Regional and Language Options' the language selected was 'Arabic (Saudi Arabia)'. When I changed it to English (UK) everything is OK.

A little history for those who are interested....

I was able to re-create the problem from your hint. While you are in the Mtext editor, if you select the text, right click and change the 'charecter set' to 'Arabic' then the text will change the order.

I noticed that the value of system variable 'SYSCODEPAGE' is 1252 in my PC while in the troubled PC it is 1256.

The issue was that the 'Advanced' page was not visible when l logged in as a normal user and all other settings was found correct. Later I asked our IT department to log in as Admin and we were able to solve the issue.
