Shape file error

Hi guys

 

When I start up a particular drawing I get a message telling me there are missing Shape Files. I can continue without issue if I click cancel but how can I stop these messages coming up?

Ive had the same error before but with missing fonts. I changed the font used on that drawing and the problem went away, but shapes?

if the shapes are part of a line definition file the only useful way of removing the messages is to get the shape file from whoever gave you the drawing. You could create a "dummy" shape file yourself but you won't see the correct line definition.

Ok Ill just ask them for the Shape file.

You either have to supply the correct shape file, or delete the reference to it.

No different really, except that AutoCAD will substitute font files with only a notice on the command line, but AutoCAD will always prompt you for a missing shape file.

I think this would be the ideal solution as the shape file is almost certainly of no consequence to me. I will go through the link you provided and try work it out.

I used to get the same prompt regarding the font upon start up as I am getting now regarding the shape file.

AutoCAD will only prompt for a font when FONTALT is not set and the font cannot be found, and even then the prompt is different. It's not a standard windows file selection dialog. The font prompt looks like this:
