Points coming in unknown?

Recommended Posts

We just recently upgraded to Civil 3d 2011. I am trying to reduce a file but some of it's points come in as X's and list the description but the style name etc... are not known. It's mostly the elevation and corner shots. I have Description Keys and Point Styles set up for all of them. What could be causing this?

see PDMODE in the help file.

in your case PDMODE is set to 3

Pdmode just made them bigger when I set uit to 3. Currently it's 0.

Maybe i didnt understand your question.... are these "X"s actually NODES created by the POINT command?? or are they something unique to Civil 3d??

PDMODE just sets the style of nodes

No. I am importing an ascii file via the Data Collection. Most of the nodes I click on are fine they have the correct symbols and show the right properties, but a few are just small X's and have the right description, but that is it. I'm not sure why, I can't see what's different about them compared to the rest.

So they are NODES?.... now what do you mean by "have the correct symbols" I think a screenshot, or a dwg for me to look at would be beneficial...

Sounds like you're importing points using Description Keys. If the description (raw description) of an imported point does not match the criteria in your Description Key Set, it will display as the default marker (red x).

so this is a "civil" specific issue? Good i feel better... I was starting to think I didnt know what i was talking about...

cad pic.jpg That's a picture of what's going on. I have specified in the Description Keys that they should come in at drawing scale, yet I just noticed even the ones that come in correctly say no scale when selected.

The description matches the data both have the same codes.

This one is all yours lpseifert... me know not what civil can do...

Wow... I figured out what it is for the reduction. Even the case matts. Some of the codes were cor instead of COR and that caused them not to come in. It never mattered in our last program. What would cause the scale issue though? When I have it set to drawing size.
