I am trying to publish a set of drawings at half scale without trying to change every single page set up.

Is there a way to do this?

I have been up to this point, having layouts in paper space that are 24" x 36", and printing them 1:2 onto a 12" x 18" sheet. I have been doing this drawing by drawing, and was trying to figure out if I could publish at half scale without changing my page layouts?

Thanks,

Look into the Publish command or Sheet Set Manager. Publish command lets you select the layouts and then by selecting the drawings you can override the page setups that are used to print. Sheet Set Manager is a fantastic way to manage drawings for printing or simply opening a specific file from a set.

Thanks for the reply. For some reason I have made a drawing template in autocad 2007 for 12 x 18. When I import it, I get the sign that it is processing, and if I click away it stops? I left it go for awhile and nothing happened.

Is there another way to do this?

Thanks

Best thing to do is to set up multiple Page Setups in a template file, so that here on out you have this option available.

For instance: Start with a 42x30 E1 size. In the Page Setups, create a 36x24 D size paper with the "Fit to Paper" checkbox enabled under Plot Scale. Save that as a Page Setup. Then, do one for a 24x18 C size paper. That way when you publish all Paperspace tabs, you can highlight all the Sheet Name layouts and set the Page Setup's to whatever paper size you have saved. Easy as cake, and it works like a charm. I use it all the time for "half sized" sets of plans for my field guys.

This might be a computer or file problem then. I have a page setup saved. Should this be a .dwt, or .dwg. When I import the .dwt on my computer or another, it seems to take a really long time, and if I click away to say check email, it stops loading.

Am I importing something wrong? It's not failing, it just stops?

Thanks

Look at the screen shot below. When I start my 42x30 template, I already have the following Page Setup's saved:

18x12 (Half Sized)
24x18 (Half Sized)
PDF
TIFF

When I want to print drawings that half sized, I just choose which size I want for all Layout tabs when I'm in the Publish Dialog Box.

Oh and for the record, this will not Scale the drawings. It's completely knocking the scale out, shrinking it to fit inside a smaller sheet. You can't create smaller sheet sizes that are still scaled easily, if at all, using the same Layout tab.

I to am having this problem. But i would like to be able to publish multiable tabs to a different paper size. Not to scale of course.
We typ. print to 11x17 and would like to print to 8-1/2x11. Some jobs have 50+ tabs and printing 1 at a time to letter is getting old. We can print to pdf then print out on letter size. Which seems to have a bad effect on the drawings. I would like to remove that step and print to eather 11x17 or 8-1/2x11. Is there a way to set up paper space without a paper size. That way you could just select the paper size thought the page setup in the publish command pop-up.

Thanks
Matt

Just follow my posts above.

I have, and still no luck. We have our title block in paper space with the viewport inside of it. The title block is set up to fit on 11x17 paper with the view port(s) inside scaled accordingly. Each tap is set to 11x17 paper. Would that have something to do with it? When I choose my letter page set-up in the publish dialog box and publish I get an error.

PCL XL error
Error: IllegalOperatorSequence
Operator: 0xcb
Position: 4335

Can you post a screenshot of the Saved Layout settings, as well as the Page Setup override?

Set "Publish To" to "Plotter Named in Page Setup". It's currently selected as "DWF Format". See if that fixes the error.

Under "Publish to.. I select "Plotter Named in Page Setup" and choose which plotter I want to use un the "Page Setup / 3D DWF drop down...

<Default: None> Which is the printer/plotter
Letter - I get the Error
PDF - makes the muti page PDF file
Import... - Only use if need to import the PDF setup into an older drawing

Still no luck

You shouldn't be getting an error. That's weird. I would just start from a scratch template. A bug might have caught somewhere during the progression of building off a file some time ago. Never know though... just keep doing some trial and error.

A bug... If I don't that would be amazing

I will try and set up a new file with the same pageset-ups and see what happens

Thanks.

Post up your results. Try on another workstation with CAD too, just to be safe.

Well Remade all page setups in a new template. The new page setup worked great for my print to pdf, got rid of the moving lines issue that I had. Lines would be missing on one page the would show up on the other. Now thats fixed. Thanks. As for printing my 11x17 layout tabs to letter it has not worked as of yet. I am planning on trying again when I have.

Thanks for all your help StykFacE.

MattWhat procedure are you using that's not working? Can you give me an example of your settings?

Heres step by step:
1. Select all layout tabs that I want to print.
2. Right click, Select "Publish Selected Layouts...
3. Select all sheets. Under Page Setup / 3D DWF switch to my LETTER page setup.
4. Under Publish to... switch to Plotter named in page setup.
5. Double check that everything is checked correctly and hit publish.

One sheet print out with the error that I showed before.
I use the same procedure when I print to pdf. Just select my PDF page setup and that works just fine.

Here is my page setup to print to letter & the Publish dialog box.

It works fine if I plot one layout tab at a time.

Are you from Pennsylvania? Just curious because I have noticed folks from that part of the world using 'left' in that way.

25933Hmm. Have you tried testing it on another printer? To me it seems the error might be the printer since the publish to Letter works when you are creating PDF's.

Wish I could try another printer. We only have the one. Never thought it could be the copier/printer that we have.
I'll just keep doing things the way I am and hopfully we get a better copier/print soon and hopfully that will fix the problem.

Thanks

Matt
