Dynamic Block help

I am attempting to keep the cable line of the crane always tangent to the circle at the top of the crane. The length of the crane (including the circle at the top) is being polar stretched but i am unable to keep the cable tangent to the top circle as i stretch and rotate the crane.

Help would be appreciated.

I think you will need to add geometric constraints to the block.

That is the simple answer. Unfortunately I am not in a position give a fuller one as I have only worked my way through the AutoDesk guide once and have forgotten all that I learned.

ive got that but it just wont length as the crane does

can you post your block. At the moment I can't visualise what you are talking about.

Thanks for the help... i got it though. a few lock constraints and an additional stretch did the trick.

good. I still haven't looked at your block but I thought a tangent restraint would fit what I thought you were describing.

With my brief look at geometric constraints I can see they will be useful, I just need time to look.
