alec
Hi, When I hatch an elevation of a building, sometimes I want the hatching to line up on all faces - say brickwork, so that the joints are all in line. I have a building with a projection. When I hatch it in a stone pattern, the stones run through from one face into the adjacent face. Obviously they wouldn't in reality and I would like to know if there is a way of making the hatches to each face seperate so that the stones stop in the corner and start again on the quoin. Hopefully I've managed to upload an example of the problem. stone hatch problem.dwg
Glen Smith
I don't have your lodgestone pattern but when I tried it with gravel, down in the bottom left of the hatch window there is a section (in 2010) that lets you pick a new orgin for your hatch. So you would have to hatch each section of the house individually rather than all at the same time, and pick a different orgin for each one. Glen. CJJ
Looking at the DWG you posted, I think I understand what you're saying. Rather than doing one hatch for the entire facade, I'd try to separate them into a few different hatches. For example, do one hatch area for the chimney, one hatch area for the front of the house, one hatch area for the garage area, etc. Then you can just adjust the origin (HATCHEDIT command) for each area to make sure they don't line up. alec
Thanks Gents, just did what Glen suggested - worked a treat. Now its much easier to see the different vertical planes of the front elevation. With no one to ask except the forum, I can spend hours chasing my tail trying to get things to work. Many thanks, Alec
Glen Smith
My turn. So how do I 'steal' the lodgestone hatch pattern from the drawing that you posted? There has to be a way to get that information from the drawing and save it so I can use it in the future. (Not that it will be terribly use-full, more for future reference and curiosity.) I would have thought that the hatch would be similar to a dimstyle or linetype that could be managed with the design center, but I don't see it. alec
No probs Glen. I got it from the web-site of a company called ElDorado stone. I picked upo the link from a thread on here but can't find it now. There are six stone hatches in their download, but I can only get two of them to work - the other four are blank. Hope it helps, Cheers, Alec Smith
