Nardino
I was wondering if anybody knew how to keep the host drawing of an external reference file with the layers exactly the same as the external reference file. I hope this clear. Basically when I start a new drawing, I have a template with all layers built in. When this model drawing is used as an external reference file, it brings in all the used and unused layers. As I populate this model drawing I remove/purge all the not-used layers. When I update the host drawing, the unsused layers are still there and I cannot remove them. What I have been doing is to detach these external files, purge the host drawing and then re-attach the external file again. Any fix to this???..........thanks all
RobDraw
Setting "visretain" to "0" works for me.
designerstuart
wouldn't you be better off bringing in your standard layers in a block? all layers (used or unused) in the xref will come through to the host while it is attached. as a block the layers become part of the host drawing, and can be purged if required. hope this makes sense.
