Ste1978
I I have google sketchup pro and have been given an image to try to insert to inventor, so we can add conveyors and hoppers, various other blocks. I have managed to export the drawing into a Autocad 3D drawing, but from here I can't seem to find a way to get this in inventor. Can anyone help? I have attached the dwg file, if anyone can make this into a part/assy for inventor then I would be very grateful and intrigues how you did it! Many thanks, Stephen File is 1.4mb so I have uploaded it to this website:- http://www.filesonic.com/file/937491264/ironbridge3d.zip
Pablo Ferral
The problem you've got here is that Sketchup creates a mesh model and Inventor Creates a solid model. Even if you get the Mesh into Inventor it will appear 'Jagged' - Circles and arcs will look like polygons and faces will be composed of a number of triangles. Check Out this post for an explanation of the differences: http://cadsetterout.com/cad-setter-out/resources-choosing-a-3d-package/ You could try exporting to SAT, which Inventor should read. You could try this download from Sycode: http://www.sycode.com/products/skp_import_iv/index.htm (Includes a good graphic that shows what you are going to get) You would probably be better off re-modelling the part in Inventor. JD Mather
Inventor will import the dwg, but as indicated, faceted surfaces are of little use in Inventor other than for reference.

I see, although when I try and import my Inventor just locks up, it's obvious something is not right. My method will have to be the other way around, export the inventor parts/blocks to 3ds and then add to sketchup, this will be suffice for this project! Thanks again guys.
