oldcodger Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 How can I make a drawing in isometric? Quote
ReMark Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Execute the SNAP command and use the Style command. You'll have two choices: Standard and Isometric. Choose Isometric. Use the F5 key to switch between the three isoplanes. Note that the default Snap/Grid setting is 1. You can change this to something else or disable it altogether. Quote

Oppie Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) That is the shape of the isometric cursor (Crosshair) in the drawing, if you don't like it open a new template or change it back. Edited September 7, 2010 by Oppie Quote

Oppie Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I have the Snap command at the bottom of the page but I can't find the Style command. rkent means, right click GRID DISPLAY , choose SETTINGS, there you have the SNAP STYLE, and there you choose RECTANGULAR SNAP. Quote
ReMark Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 As seen on your command line: Command: Snap Specify snap spacing or [ON/OFF/Aspect/Style/Type] : S (for Style) Enter snap grid style [standard/Isometric] : I (for Isometric) Specify vertical spacing : (the default snap/grid spacing) You can use the F9 key to disable Snap. ReMark Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 My AutoCAD 2000 User's Guide depicts a Tools drop-down menu at the top of the screen. It is located between Format and Draw. Quote
oldcodger Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) Thank you all so very much for you help and patience, I have at last got it. As far as the TOOLS menu is concerned, in my book it shows it as: File, Edit, View, Format, TOOLS, Draw. On my screen there is no TOOLS. Any one any idea how I can get it back? Thanks in anticipation Oldcodger Edited September 7, 2010 by oldcodger Quote
ReMark Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 "Tools" is one of the default drop-down menus. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be showing unless someone customized AutoCAD and either eliminated it or substituted a different acad.mnu file for the original. Are you using any add-on software with AutoCAD? Quote
eldon Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 If all else fails, you could check the System Variable SNAPSTYL. This should be 0 for normal (rectangular) and 1 for Isometric. Quote

Are you using any add-on software with AutoCAD? As far as I know i'm not using any add-on software. My drop down menu reads: File, Edit, View, Insert, Assist, Design, Modify, Surface, Part, Assembly, Drawing, Annotate, Content 3D, Window, Help and not as it shows in my book which is: File, Edit, View, Insert, Firmat, Tools, Draw, Dimension, Modify, window, Help. Does this help in any way? Oldcodger Quote

ReMark Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 It almost makes me think you're working in a 3D workspace. Quote
oldcodger Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 It almost makes me think you're working in a 3D workspace. In that case how do I get out of it? Oldcodger Quote
ReMark Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 What was I thinking? AC 2000 did not utilize workspaces. Let's back up a moment. Where did you get your copy of AutoCAD 2000? Quote

A friend gave me a copy that he "aquired", this was some time ago. I feel sure that the menu bar didnt always look as it does now, I feel sure that it was opriginally 'normal'. Oldcodger Quote
