  1. I am having a hard time converting a .las file to create a surface in C3D & I was wondering if anyone had familiarity with this. I brought the .las file into ArcGIS and created a Raster then extracted contours from the raster but this did not work out the way I hoped. I see that C3D is able to open .rcp & .rcs files. I was wondering if this would be the route I need to take and how do I convert into either of those formats? One work around I've used is using Autodesk Recap to convert the files but my issues then stem from the surface thinking the trees are ground points.
  2. Hi All, I have a point cloud taken with a Drone and ported to an RCP file via Recap. Whilst I can import and crop the point cloud in AutoCAD easily enough, I simply can't make a section plan through it. I'd really like to be able to do this so I can make site plans. Online videos seem to show you picking a plan or point and getting a "plane" whilst I just get a line. I can pick it but unless I set to boundary it's just a line. If I pick this so called section I don't get the additional option in the section place panel either so !?!?!?! If I upload the RCP would anybody who's well versed in this feature see if they can do it or if the RCP is defective in some way?
  3. Hi everyone, first post. Does anyone know why x-referenced point cloud can suddenly degrade in visual quality? This is what happens: I insert a huge point cloud scan into AutoCAD drawing and it looks almost perfect. When zooming point cloud regenerates and its quality is corrected. When I zoom very close I can see neat rows of points that were generated by the laser station. After while AutoCAD regenerates the view and point cloud quality decreases significantly, huge gaps appear in the point's fabric and I cannot see neat rows of points anymore. I can barely see the picture up-close, so I have to zoom out significantly in order to see general overview. So my settings for point cloud are: POINTCLOUDDENSITY:100 POINTCLOUDCASHESIZE:32000 Maximum point cloud points per drawing 25000000 Does anyone has an idea how to get back to that perfect scan that I inserted in the first place? I have suspicion that AutoCAD unloads huge part of points to increase productivity, but is there any setting to restrict that?
