    Image I/O error issues

I'm in an online course and nearing my end date. One requirement is to skin a biped and then submit .avi movies testing the different joints to show the mesh deformation. To my nightmare, as soon as i click on a 'render output' saving location, i get this Image I/O error every time. If i unclick 'Save file' in the 'render output', it gives the warning that no location has been selected for saving and I may lose the renders, which is what happens. I went to the smallest output size, in case it was a memory issue, but i still get the same issue. I read that it is best to render each frame, in full production, and then use another program to put them together into an .avi but i can't even do that since i can't save a location through the render output. i can save through the quick render but that will take some time to do 40 frames of each joint showing the testing and deformation of the mesh to the biped structure. My platform is Windows XP Professional sp3, i'm using MAX 2010 student version and all minimum requirements are met. I believe it is something with the file saving location issue since that is what is selected when it gives me this error. I also did make sure the file folder i was saving to was not 'read only', as that was another solution i saw for someone that had the same issue. Thanks, Walt
