I have a converted dxf file (convert from an STL) which was used to create a 3d part and therefore must have been an enclosed volume (or the 3d printer would reject the file). But when I open the file, it has a series of 3d faces instead of a 3d solid. I have used convtosurface cleanly. But when I try to use the sculpt command it says it cannot find a watertight volume. arm-rugged_low-wall-v2.dwg I have attached the file without the surfaces as later files are too big. Is there any autolisp or script files that can check and highlight problem areas? There are a number of files I need to check. This is just one example.
Dear community, I'm a relatively new acad user, somewhat managing myself well with 2d drawing, and venturing into 3d drawing and modelling. I've struggled with some curved parts for the hull of a vehicle I'm designing, especially bringing it to be a solid object. I've been able to achieve the surfaces of the body I was looking forward to compose, however, I'm having what seems to be a very common problem, no watertight envelope. I've read about it and seems that Inventor is capable of stitching these minimal holes in the envelope. I acquired the program but really don't know how to use it. Could someone help me sealing this up to make a solid, whether it's inventor or autocad? Hi All, Looking for some help with what is probably a fairly basic 3d Modelling operation. I have a series of planar surfaces arranged to create a relatively basic object. I am now trying to use the sculpt command to convert these into a 3d solid but keep getting the error message; "Modeling Operation Error: Operation did not add or remove material. Solid creation failed, no watertight volume detected." Is there any way of; A. forcing the sculpt command to work through altering some sort of fuzz distance option etc? or failing this B. identifying the non compliant sufaces involved so I can attempt to tweak them to suit?
