A2 Paper To Autocad

Hey Everyone:) I'm having a blonde moment.

 

Iv'e been given an autocad A2 drawing by hand which iv'e been asked to re-produce in cad as he can't find an electronic file anywhere!

 

I had an idea and suggested to him, of just scanning it in and inserting into autocad and maybe just re-adapt the date etc? would this be the right way to go about it?

 

I don't really mix PDF's with cad much at all so I don't know if the resoultion will still be so great?

 

what you think guys, can it be done and will it look alright?

I've done this kind of thing before, and generally when you insert a .tiff (I don't recall being able to insert a 'pdf' unless I converted it into a .tiff), it will more than likely be pretty choppy. It's hit or miss if it comes through with enough clarity to not have to re-do pieces by hand.

 

You may have better luck finding a raster->vector program, as from what I've heard, there seem to be decent ones out there as long as the initial quality of the scan isn't shot to begin with.

 

95% of the time, I end up having to put in some more hours when I can using my scales.
