I'm having trouble with the 3d orbit auto targeting. It seldomly centers correctly, and I've been having this issue since AutoCAD '09. What could be causing this? I've tried toggling the 'enable orbit auto target', which does nothing. Very frustrating.

when you use the steering wheel you can manually move the orbit center anywhere on an object, line etc. if you ZOOM, Extents, the center of your screen i believe is where autotarget will use. Ive never used it because manually moving the orbit center works for me.

Try the command 3dorbitctr and you choose the target.

yes. I was hoping there was a fix for the shift-middle mouse combination to make it a little more automatic. perhaps a macro will suffice
