I need to convert my dwg's to dgn's. I need them to be converted into V7 2D dgn's and I can't seem to do it. I have been in contact with ACAD and they have asked me to try EXPORTTOACAD, but this comand does not seem to be able to convert to dgn at all. When I use the DGNEXPORT command, I run through the options but at the end it always makes me save it as a V7 3D dgn and my clients can't use a 3D drawing. I need a way to force ACAD to convert dwg's to V7 2D dgn's.

I have V8 Microstations in my office. Yes.

Simply open the DWG in Ustn, then Save As V7, then Export to 2D.

Ustn can open, work in and save the DWG format and that's where you will do the conversion to DGN.

The 2D and 3D file structers are different though, so you will do an Export to 2D and save with a new drawing name and all that stuff.

I am not familiar with Ustn. Where do I find this?

I guess im not familiar enough with it. When I export to 2D dgn it says it overwrites the file but when I open it to check 3D vs 2D it shows its still in 3D.

When you export to 2d, save as a new file, don't overwrite.

I'm pulling this all out of memory. I ain't been in MicroStation (U=micro, Stn= station, Ustn) in a few months....

Ah... That did it... I guess you cant overwrite the file... Do you happen to know if there is a way to do this for more than one at a time?

No, you're lucky I remembered this much. I'm usually in Ustn 3 or 4 time a year, State owned Traffic Signals is about all we use it for. NJDOT is the only agency around here that uses it.

Glad that worked for you though. Now do a Save As to V7 and your on your way.

If you do this often, check out Axiom software, they have all kinds of really good MicroStation add on software that will do about anything you can think of.

Thanks for the help. Yes, this is a one time project for me as well. No need for Ustn for any other client or projects.
