Vector -> DWG Conversion, problem with splines / points.

Hiya guys, hopefully some of you can help me find a work around for this problem.

 

Basically I do all my initial design work in Adobe Illustrator as vector lines, alot of the files are pretty detailed (will attach some photos to show examples).

 

Once i've finished the design in Illustrator I knock the line width down to 0.001 and export to DWG.

 

I open the file up in CAD 08 and it ends up being brought in as splines along with hundreds of points on all the rads.

 

Is there a function to reduce the number of points and convert from splines without re-drawing it all out again in CAD or am I doomed to hours of re-drawing?
