BIGMIKE09281946 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 In the UCS command entering 3 to select x, y, and z at any corner of a 3D rectangle while in the SW Isometric view, results in the Z axis being perpetually in the vertical position, at either a positive or negative direction. I am entering the x-positive and y-positive axis in the correct formats. Is there some form of magical manuever I need to get this working the correct way? Quote
CALCAD Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 BIGMIKE, I think you're misunderstanding the intent of the '3' option of the UCS command. The three points are used to define a plane (and new coordinate system) by establishing the X axis with the first two, then the Y axis with the third. The Z axis will always be perpendicular to the subsequent new plane. Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted May 17, 2009 Author Posted May 17, 2009 I am following a CAD-Guy tutorial where I am supposed to draw rectangles on the four sides of an extruded rectangle. I just DL AutoCAD 2010 and gave it the same application as in my 2006 exercise and was able to locate all six sides of the box. I will give it a look see on Sunday morning. Thanks for your input. kencaz Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 In this case your Y axis should be directly above the second point of the positive X axis. If not you will have your Y axis at some angle. Starting with AutoCad 2007 came the Dynamic USC that made things a little easier. KC Quote
