Doove
I suspect I'm being dumb but here goes... In response to another thread I got a 2010 MEP file. Couldn't open it in 2008 MEP, was told to install Trueview 2010. I have ADT 2005 and MEP 2008 installed side by side on XP (on a 6 month old Dell Precision T3400). Installed Trueview 2010. From explorer all dwg files now open with Trueview 2010. When I associate dwg files (via the explorer right click - open with... option) with dwglauncher it opens them with Trueview 2010. When I associate them with acad.exe it opens them in ADT 2005. How do I make dwg files open with MEP 2008? My MEP desktop shortcut seems to open acad.exe in the MEP 2008 folder but has line of script after it which I assume brings up the MEP Global Profile. So why does the acad.exe shown in windows explorer "Open With..." dialog target the 2005 acad.exe? How do I get it sorted? It's not a real problem (unless someone deletes the desktop shortcut) just one of those "monkey-on-the-back" things.
tzframpton
Open, MEP 2008. File > Open > Open any DWG file. Save, and close. This should fix your issue. Always does for me. If it doesn't, do what you've been doing but point it to the acad.exe file in the MEP 2008 Program Files folder.

Doove
just for curiosity they still open in Trueview 2010 from explorer. If I point them at acad.exe in the MEP 2008 folder they will open using Acad 2005. Checking the target in the MEP desktop shortcut it is opening acad.exe but has some options or arguments after the folder location of acad.exe that must instruct windows to open up MEP 2008. It's still OK as if (as you told me) MEP2008 is open then they will open in MEP2008 from explorer. Weird though. Must be a registry setting? tzframpton
well its definitely a registry thing but looks like you need to do some uninstalling....
