I have drawing some else did, I am not sure who did it, but I want to add some dimensions to the drawing. When I try to dimension something that is already dimensioned I get different measurments. How do I match the DIM style they used to give me the same readings they got?

What dimstyles are available? Did you check the properties of one of the dimensions to see what style was used?

Posted

I didnt see where it says dimstyle on the properties. What do I need to look for?

Posted

if you select one of the old dimensions and list it theres a line that says dimension style or on the properties under misc. is dim style

Posted

When I select the dimension line and go to properties, under misc all it gives me is:

Closed : NO

Linetype generation : Disabled

thats what mine shows, did you try list?

your not getting the information your after because that wasnt created using the dimension command or it was exploded multiple times after. Thats just a polyline with two arrows and text above. Ive re-attached it saved to 04 so others can look and give thier opinion

So I'm SOL on using this to get some dim for a room. Oh well. Thanks guys

Posted

SOL - Not at all

If the dimension has been exploded then the dimstyle should still be there..(in the drawing)

Try DIMSTYLE.... look through the list of dimstyles `preview' you might get lucky..:)

I hope I have explained what I am looking for, and I hope the DIMSTYLE is how I fix it. Just to be sure I am going to post my problem again.

When I dimension a space on this drawing, I cant get the same dimension that is on the drawing. When I use linear dim on the dim on the dwg i posted I get like +-15'. I realize the current dims have been exploded, not exactly sure what that is but I will look it up, so would knowing the DIMSTYLE be the answer to my problem or am I looking in the wrong spot.

hanks to all that replied
