Automatically Update a sequence of Numbers

Morning all

 

Im working for a firm of Architects and am looking for a way within Autocad to produce a sequential list of Numbers, for example plot numbers of houses on a development, that automatically update themself should the need arise to edit the list.

 

For example: The plot numbers may range from 1-550, however plot number 237 may be removed. This would normally require going back through the site re-numbering each plot, very time consuming!

 

Any helpl would be appreciated
