izz Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I am extruding 2d polylines and have a number which are the same shape and height so extruded them all together. However, they now appear to be blocked together and when I edit one they are all edited the same. Is it possible to extrude them to the same height but not block them?? I have tried exploding them but then I am left with surfaces rather than solids... It is Autocad 2006. Any suggestions? Thank you Quote
yedan Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 either extrude one at a time or slice them apart after extruding. Quote
izz Posted April 11, 2008 Author Posted April 11, 2008 Thankyou. Is it possible to slice with a complex shape for example stairs? Quote
yedan Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 depends on where you are trying to slice i guess, Quote
Excalibur Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Check and see if you have a Separate command, it will also split the solids into individual elements Quote
ReMark Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 The Separate command will not split the solids into individual elements. There are very special circumstances under which this command will work. For example, let's say you have a rectangular solid that you have then gone and removed a chunk of it at the midpoint leaving two separate pieces. Trying to move either of the pieces causes AutoCAD to act upon both. Use the Separate command to make each an entity unto itself. Then, and only then, can you move, rotate, copy, etc. each piece individually. Quote
dar100 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 This is the exact opposite off my problem. i want my multiple polylines to turn into one object when i extrude. At the moment they stay as separate objects. I am using 2008. Is there a secret system variable that we need to know about? Quote
ReMark Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 dar100: I suggest you repost your question as a separate thread rather than tack it onto the end of this one. You'll get more responses and it will be easier to follow as we won't be mixing repsonses to two questions in one thread. Thanks. Quote
