muck Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I need to remove entities in turned off layers so I toggle my "ON layers" to off and my "OFF layers" to on and erase the hidden entities then I toggle the layers back to the orginal state. I would think that would only erase entities in unseen layers. That is not the case. I end up erasing something in an orginal layer that is on in the first place. Is there an easy another to erase unseen entites & remove their layers and ensure that the shown entities remain in my drawing? Note I am dealing with complex 3-d drawings that have 100 plus layers with about 10 layers turned off. Typical. I am doing this to convert all layers to a single layer called Level 1 for microstation conversions. With all the 3-blocks etc, this is becoming a challange. Can anyone help? Thank you, Quote
ReMark Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Layer Delete command. Look under Format > Layer Tools. Quote
muck Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 I am using version 2009. What I need is something that would purge unseen entities. What is the difference between freeze and turning a layer off. That might help. Quote
ReMark Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 "Is there an easy another to erase unseen entites & remove their layers..." Maybe I wasn't clear. Layer Delete. This command will erase a layer and all entities on that layer whether it is on, off or frozen. The command doesn't care. That's why one must be careful when using it. Quote
ReMark Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Re: Layer off vs. frozen. May I recommend AutoCAD Help? See Layers > turning on or off. Then on the Concept tab read the section entitled Control the visibility of objects on a layer. It clearly explains the difference between the two. Quote
