Im using autocad lt 2007 (still)

I am puzzling over the fact that I have read that ltscale should be set to 1 in model space. I have been trying to figure it out for ages but at least now when I type in ltscale = 200 I can see some of the dotted lines. I have just drawn out every line type in the package . The ones I can see end in X2 and still I cannot see the others unless I blow upto 300 ltscale.

When I tried to see the lines in paper space I can see them at 31.5 ltscale (not the 0.315ltscale) where some one mentioned it was their office standard. What could this descrepancy be?

The explanation of all other linescales is really making head boggle so I think the simplest solution is to toggle ltscale between 'preparing' the drawing in model space to 'presenting' offers the simplest solution for me.

Changing the subject :

Also do we know which system of pens the colours should relate to. I just want to get it right for a change

magenta=0.13

red=0.18

white 0.25

yellow 0.35

dark green 0.5

dark blue 0.7

orange 1

lime green 1.4

grey 2

?

Is that right or is there a simpler more obvious way. Help!

It could be a matter of which dwt file you use when starting a new drawing. Acad.dwt would use a linetype file geared towards Imperial while acadiso.dwt would use a linetype file geared towards metric.

From Help:

PSLTSCALE

Initial value: 1

Controls paper space linetype scaling.

0 - No special linetype scaling. Linetype dash lengths are based on the drawing units of the space (model or paper) in which the objects were created. Scaled by the global LTSCALE factor.

1 - Viewport scaling governs linetype scaling. If TILEMODE is set to 0, dash lengths are based on paper space drawing units, even for objects in model space. In this mode, viewports can have varying magnifications, yet display linetypes identically. For a specific linetype, the dash lengths of a line in a viewport are the same as the dash lengths of a line in paper space. You can still control the dash lengths with LTSCALE.

When you change PSLTSCALE or use a command such as ZOOM with PSLTSCALE set to 1, objects in viewports are not automatically regenerated with the new linetype scale. Use the REGEN or REGENALL commands to update the linetype scales in each viewport.

Thank You For The Replies.

There Are So Many Things To Think About And So Many Permutations

At Least The Line Types Show Now. Once They Are In Pdf Format And Into The Finished Drawings - At The End Of The Day That Is What Counts It I Think. :)

The pen allocation is really down to your office, it will vary and there isn't really a set standard as to what colour goes with what lineweight, the only standards are the lineweights themselves.

Try the following-

Make sure that PICKFIRST is set to 1

Go into model space and Select All

Open the properties box and change the linetype scale to 0.5

Close the properties box

Type in- CELTSCALE

Type in- 0.5

Type in- PSLTSCALE

Type in- 1

All hidden / dashed lines, (existing and new lines), should now appear in paperspace, and will plot, with dashes about 3mm long with 1.5mm gap – in all viewports regardless of the viewport scale.

(Lines such as hiddenx2 will of course be half that- 1.5mm with 0.75mm gap).

No need to select all if you use LTSCALE command instead of the property window- just an alternative way of working...

Mind you I've never come across CELTSCALE...
