Ells Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Is there a way to tell what date a drawing was created, saved or overwritten? We update xrefs quite often and if we have a name 7350bp1 and get a new floor plan and have to keep the old name then some will not know the date of the latest 7350bp1 if revisions are made to it. I am looking for something that AutoCAD keeps a history of or if there is a switch to turn on so it would do it. Quote
rkmcswain Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 What about the 'last modified date' on the file itself? Quote
Ells Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 If an Architect wants to know if we have the latest xref we need to find what drawing we are working with, the last date modified is a good idea but it would not answer the question that has been put to us. I thought there was a lisp routine that kept track of the drawing history but I cannot remember it. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 It may be overkill for what you are looking for but follow the link in my signature. It would not tell you the status of your current drawings but once it begins logging it will keep an exact log of the drawing history and the users that access the file. Quote
Ells Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 Thanks, that is a step in the right direction. How often does this program need to be updated. AutoCAD wants you to update every time you change your socks. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Hi Ellis, Heh heh, I've taken a different approach than Autodesk. With my program you only update when you need to change your dress socks, but only if it falls on an overcast day. Actually I try to generate updates frequently but in my case they are for the most part free. If you do have other specific questions please PM me or e-mail me. I don't want to clog up CADTutor. I'm uncomfortable as it is with promoting here. Quote
