MrRee Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Ok, after being able to do a little something with a lot of help, I am feeling a little adventurous... I bought a house plan and would like AutoCAD 2010 to automagically produce a bill of materials for the house that I can print out and hand to a building supply store or use to shop around. Is this even possible? If so, how? Thanks in advance. Quote
ReMark Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 It would work if the house plan used blocks with attributes. I bet it doesn't. Quote
Lee Mac Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Hmmm.. not sure if this would be of any help? http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=37508 I suppose it depends if you are using different linetypes or layers for materials.. Quote
nocturne00 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 If that were possible, a lot of quantity engineers will be very happy, then again probably half of them would lose their jobs . i think estimates are still based on establishing base volumes, quantities derived from drawings, etc, some need to be from formulas w/c are also tied to what and how much labor will be needed to get the job done. there are software that specialize in this, but for basic quantifying a lot use MS Excel. ATM, i think AutoCAD is still ill equipped to handle such a feat. and if ever they do, it will again boil down to something that "autoCAD should not be doing". IMHO. Quote
ReMark Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Does AutoDesk Architecture have this capability? BOM...I mean. Quote
ReMark Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 You could turn to an add-on package such as GlobalCAD Schedule ($225 U.S.) as another option. http://www.cadopolis.com/autocad_addons/GlobalCAD_Schedule.shtml Quote
