CadDan
Mainly because I wouldn't have to do a clean install of Windows 7.
ReMark
You could get a 17" screen and pretty much match most of the other parameters you have set forth (amount of RAM, size of HD and the amount of vidRAM on the graphics card) by going with the Xi laptop I mentioned. It costs out at about $897.
CadDan
Is a dynamic video card a dedicated video card or integrated?
ReMark
Graphics are handled by a video card not a graphics chip. I have not heard the term dynamic video. What is that?

Was hoping you could tell me. Oh well, the search is on. Leaning towards the Lenovo Ideapad with Nvidia.
Tankman
Lenovo Ideapad with Nvidia, nice. I'm a real Thinkpad™ believer, had most of the rest, never go back. However, I'm not a gamer, use my four Thinkpad™ laptops, work only. AutoCAD is my only "game." Runs very well on the Lenovo and IBM Thinkpad™ laptops. Tankman
Was thinking about having the laptop as just work/school with lots of multitasking involved. Works for me however, I have only used XP Pro, never Vista so, can't comment on the Vista OS. IBM as well as Lenovo's customer service is excellent. Make no mistake, "These are work horses!"
