Lawmate Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Hi there i have 2 or possibly 3 questions 1) Is there any way of joining 2 splines together in autocad 2004. I have seen that there is a join command in later versions but it doesnt seem to exist in 2004. Is there a way around it while still keeping the line a spline? 2) When offsetting a spline curve, is there anyway of preserving the number of control points? A spline made from 6 or 7 points seems to have an offset equivalent with hundreds of points, making smooth tweaking of the offset line very tedious. I know i can drag control points in the middle to the end, but when there are hundreds this is very excrutiating. Can i either keep the same number of control points or is there a way of deleting large groups of control points? 3) Is there any way of setting the length of a spline then moving its shape free form? I understand that this would need dynamic mathematics, but is there a way in ACAD 2004? I know about ._lengthen post-draw tweak and the command line drawing method, but both determine the length from the shape, not the other way around. This third question is not quite as urgent as it can be worked around easily enough. Many thanks Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 an option for q1. if you select one spline and then type JOIN, does this work? Quote
Lawmate Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 No i have tried using the join function before. No good it seems. I think it was invented after ACAD 2004, which i'm using. I have tried to look for LISPs to do that same thing but i cant find much seeing as contemporary versions of ACAD have the join function. I know i can convert the spline to a pline and then joint it that way, but i really want to keep it a spline. cheers Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 sorry about that. not sure it can be done using standard 2004 tools and i'm no good with LISP's. you could see if there is someone who can write you a lisp, just post this at the lisp part of the site. also alot of others will probably be on later, so you could keep this posted here too and see how you get on. sorry cant be of help.
