I am in the process of designing an exhaust manifold for a non-standard engine conversion. This is where I am up to : I am struggling to draw a line from the preliminary pipes to the collector. The lines I am trying to draw need to start in the same direction as each preliminary pipe faces. Is there an easy way to do this?? I hope somebody can help me out! Thanks for any help Stewart Quote
ReMark Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I would recommend reorienting your UCS based upon the center of one of the pipe faces. I might even consider temporarily moving my Origin to that location as well. It looks like three out of the four pipes will be facing in roughly the same direction, right? Quote

This is only a rough mock-up of what it will look like as I learn the technique needed in AutoCad. Then I will have a go at the finalised design. I am wondering if there is an easy way of measuring each preliminary pipe? E.g. Bends, lengths, radius.. I would like to be able to make a copy of each preliminary and paste them each onto a new layout. Then using the wire frame option it may be possible to get all the dimensional information I will need from a Plan and Profile view. Do you know if this would be the best way of going about it? It would be interesting to hear how other people have gone about this.. Thanks for any help Stew Quote
ReMark Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Stew: Vehicle manifolds aren't my strong point although I've done piping layouts in 3D. I tend to set up a layer called centerline and I can use this for computing lengths of pipe runs. I'm not sure I can be of much help to you on this one. Sorry. BTW, I like what you have done so far.
