Bolt Head/Nut

Hi im new to inventor and was wondering how to draw a bolt head with a radius/chamfer on the top ive tried all sorts but no luck, there are tutorials for making the thread which i can already do but cant find anything on drawing the head

any tips would be greatly appreciated

Did you check the Inventor tutorials at forum member and Inventor guru J.D. Mather's website? He's the man when it comes to that kind of stuff.

Can't be many things easier in Inventor.

 

or

 

You can do exactly how it is done out on the shop floor - Revolve an angled tool with cut option around axis.

 

If you can't figure out either method zip and attach what you have so far.

Found the site but still cant figure it, guess im gonna have a late night

 

You can either revolve a sketch profile of the bolt with the fillet then extrude a hexagon using intersect which will give you something like this:

Or, you can extrude a circle profile the desired height (in yellow), then add the fillet to your feature after, then again, extrude your hexagon using intersect.

Then add either bit mapped threads or cut your own.

ive done it. thank you both for your help it is some times hard for a beginner to get help on forums you have been really helpfull
