I have now a drawing of a building and want to start drawing objects into it.

How easy is it in autocad to do this?

Example : my scale is 1:200 so what do i need to do to enter a workarea of 5 meter by 5 meter...?

Any tips/tutorial?

Thanks already!

forget about scale for now, that can be sorted later.

you can draw your area many ways, one way would be with the LINE command. Type LINE and click on the screen. Then type @5

The @ is used to declare "from current position" and the

Everything you draw should be shown full size. Do NOT "draw to scale" in model space. While this may have been the standard way of doing things in the early years of AutoCAD with the introduction of paper space and layouts this is NOT the recommended practice. I hope this is not what you are currently doing. Is it?

Another way to draw with correct measurements, as you put it, is to start your line command, pick your first point then drag the mouse in the direction you wish to go and enter the distance as the keyboard. This negates the use of the "@" sign.

Remember to use Ortho to maintain straight lines, horizontally and vertically, and make use of Osnaps for accuracy.

Hi, if you want to start working with autocad and have no one to teach you (in real life), might I suggest getting "Autocad bible", or some books by "Sybex", they are not too expensive and the information covered in them is all worth it. It will explain everything from the start to advanced features and you can try out exercises from the included CD as well, it helped me a lot to get started, detailed and easy to follow. :)
