Tin Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I have been given afew drawings to work on, but I seem to have a problem when it comes to open them, when I do the following happens:- I open the dwg in Autocad 2007 and the following appears:- A window appears and askes me to select shape file, the file name dynlstyle_archlsty.shx is already given in the input bit, when you click ok, it says:- file not found please verify the correct filename was given. I click cancel and the same window pops up again asking for the same but this time another file name:- dynlstyle-lstyle.shx I click cancel as it cant find the file The drawing opens to just show 3 lines, the whole building is missing. I have asked the client to send me the dwg's again, and they have but the prob is still the same. Any idea's??? Thanks Tin Quote
JoeC Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 .shx are font files. It must be that you don't have some of the fonts that the client is using. Have you tried substituting a font that you do have in place of the missing ones? It does seem strange that the entire building is missing just because of missing fonts!! Quote
Cad64 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Shx files are not always fonts. They are shape files that can be used in linetypes. This could be why the building is missing? Also, are you missing any xref's? Quote
JoeC Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Is it possible for you to attach one of the drawings? I suppose that it could be the drawings are xrefs. Have you saved them all in a common folder where the xrefs can be reestablished? Quote
Tin Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Ive attacheded a drawing... the thing is, the drawing will open up on another laptop with no probs but it doesnt on mine, both running the same cad package Thanks for helping Tin A1-296040-E-03-100.dwg Quote
rkent Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 The drawing is expecting two xref files, X3 and X3-H-T (I think that was it, open the xref manager after the file is up), they need to bind those or send you those files separate. Quote
