Lee Mac Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Something like the CAP in this program? http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=33919 Quote
DANIEL Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 yep, in fact, I'm now looking at your fittings lisp I have use for that as well. I really dont need anything fancy just something that does stantrd dished heads I cant seem to even find cut sheets on them, I am always having to go to a fabricator to get some kind of info on them to draw them up and well, I want to be able to draw them up and then give them to the fabricator lol. The Buzzard Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 That was one of my first programs that I wrote - very very messy programming... Lee, here is a pdf for 2:1 heads with more precise calcs. ASME.pdf Quote
DANIEL Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 thanks buzzard, I was about to go looking for that. Quote
The Buzzard Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 thanks buzzard, I was about to go looking for that. No problem, I used to work at a shop that built ASME pressure vessels. We used to use software to perform the design and welding calculations. This software would then create a file that is used with a hardware key and lisp that would create upto 90% of the drawing based on the calcs. I just cannot remember the name of it. The program would also have all types of fittings and heads as well as welding details. If I should find the name of this software I will give it a mention. Quote

Found it! http://www.codeware.com/ Optional Modules ASME Section VIII, Division 2 (VIII-2): COMPRESS implements both the old and new versions of Division 2 Heat Exchangers: provides mechanical designs to the TEMA Standard and ASME UHX rules, includes a bi-directional interface with HTRI’s Xchanger Suite Drafter: converts COMPRESS files into AutoCAD drawings Coster: creates Excel compatible vessel cost estimates Quote
DANIEL Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 thanks buzzard, unfortunately the price on that is not going to fly with the powers to be. Quote

The Buzzard Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 our companies anti internet browing software blocked it Daniel, I checked that one out and it runs an automatic demo for pressure vessels. It is not a useable program. Quote
DANIEL Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 thanks for taking a look buzzard, saved me from doing it from home lol, i hate doing work at home lol Quote
The Buzzard Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Daniel, I have some good news for you. I downloaded a trial version of Codeware drafting option. I found out that practically everything in it is available for use and there is no trial time limit on it. The programs in it are *.fas or Fast Load so they are compiled, But the program gives you more than you can imagine. Heads in 2:1, F&D and Hemispherical Welded Fittings all sizes Forged Threaded Fittings all sizes Mallable Iron Fittings all sizes Flanges all sizes Structural Steel all sizes Misc Parts Item Ballooning Welding Leader Symbols This is all available in English or SI units. See menu images below. You just need to register at this site: http://www.codeware.com/downloads/register.html At this site location you get the Drafter Manual for this software in PDF format: http://www.codeware.com/support/manuals/drafter.pdf Here is what the site looks like, notice I have clicked the drafting option. Give it a shot, This is a great deal for free. Also below are images of the drop down menu. Quote
ReMark Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 The user is limited to 60" and 120" shells and 6" / 10" fittings. Quote
The Buzzard Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I downloaded the Drafter option only. I have full use of all options. Did you download Compress as well? That could be a reason why although I am not sure. The Drafter option is for CAD only and has fast load files. I seem to have gotton everything the program offers. I mentioned to click the Drafter option only. Compress is for designing the shell and nozzles. You would use the design files to generate the vessel you designed for CAD. That would most likely have a limit as to what you can do with it. The Drafting option stand-alone is what I meant to download for the CAD routines. Quote
ReMark Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Thanks for the new info. I'll give the Drafting option a look. Did not download anything yet. Quote
